The main task today is to eliminate the enemy's manpower.
Statements from Russians about the complete capture of Siversk in the Donetsk region are not true; fighting continues around the city. Ukrainian military logistics are complicated there, with food and ammunition being delivered to the troops by drones and ground robotic systems.
This was reported by the spokesperson of the 11th Army Corps, Dmitry Zaporizhets, as stated by "Suspilne Donbas."
"Russia's statements about the capture of Siversk are not true. The struggle for the city continues. Urban combat is the most challenging type of confrontation. We are trying to destroy the enemy primarily using UAVs and artillery. We openly show that we are destroying the enemy both in the central and southern parts of the city, as well as on the eastern outskirts," Zaporizhets informed.
Currently, Russian troops are positioned on the southern and northern outskirts of Siversk. The invaders have been trying to enter the city from these directions since November. Most of the occupiers attempted to enter through mine No. 6 in the southern part of Siversk. Ukrainian defense forces have maintained special control over this mine and have been destroying the enemy there whenever possible.
"However, how many enemies entered during the bad weather... There were rain, slush, snow in the Donetsk region, and there were high and low dense fogs — and the enemy actively took advantage of the weather. Identifying the enemy during such bad weather is very difficult," noted the spokesperson of the 11th Army Corps.
According to him, there may currently be about 50-60 Russian fighters in Siversk. Efforts to eliminate them are ongoing.
"The situation in Siversk is complex. The geographical location of Siversk is a lowland, and therefore, in the worst-case scenario, if the enemy captures Siversk, we will be able to control what happens in Siversk itself. Because there are heights nearby from which we carry out both fire impact using UAVs and fire impact using artillery," Zaporizhets explained.
He emphasized that necessary resources are currently being mobilized to stabilize the situation in Siversk. Drone operators are also being separately engaged.
"The main task today is to eliminate the enemy's manpower before they bring in armored vehicles or electronic warfare systems or other means that would allow them to hold the buildings they are in," explained the spokesperson of the 11th Army Corps.
He also confirmed the authenticity of videos showing Russian flags on buildings in Siversk that are being circulated by the enemy.
"Unfortunately, the presence of Russian flags on buildings today is true. The enemy has had the opportunity to be in various locations and conduct these recordings," said Zaporizhets.
Additionally, the occupiers have also used civilians for their propaganda.
"Somewhere, people aged 20-25 appeared in propaganda videos. In turn, according to the administration's data, there were no such people there, only elderly individuals remained. This means that propaganda works, and propaganda channels use any personnel, so to speak, civilian, or some kind of traveling circus," the military spokesperson reported.
Recall that the operational command "East" also informed that as of 18:00 that day, Siversk remains under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, despite the enemy's attempts to infiltrate there in small groups, taking advantage of the bad weather. Most of these units are being destroyed at the approaches.
