Europe must seize the historical opportunity to achieve peace in Ukraine and support the peace efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the social network X.
The politician noted that EU countries have a chance to take important steps towards resolving the conflict at the upcoming European Council meeting in Brussels, and peace in Ukraine has never been closer.
"Europe stands on the brink of a historical opportunity because the war that we, Europeans, have been unable to end for four years may soon be brought to a close by the Americans. All we need to do is support them. Unfortunately, all signs point to the opposite," he wrote.
Earlier, Orban stated that European countries want to escalate the Ukrainian conflict and extend it to the economic sphere by confiscating frozen Russian assets. He emphasized that this decision "is tantamount to an open declaration of war" and will provoke retaliatory measures from Moscow.
