U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Rwanda of disrupting the peace agreement with DR Congo.
He published the corresponding statement on social media X.
"Rwanda's actions in eastern DR Congo are a clear violation of the Washington agreements signed by President Trump. The United States will take measures to ensure the fulfillment of the promises made to the president," Rubio said.
Recall that Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo signed a peace agreement in June 2025, mediated by the United States, to end a long-standing conflict. The document was signed at the Donald Trump Peace Institute.
Earlier, fighters from the M23 rebel movement, operating in eastern Congo and linked to Rwanda, seized the village of Luvungi near the border with Burundi. Part of the Congolese army retreated. This led to clashes with local self-defense forces Wazalendo.
It is worth noting that there is currently an escalation between Thailand and Cambodia, whose peace agreement was previously recorded in the assets of the U.S. president.
