Merz: EU is trying to involve the US in its negotiations with Ukraine on the peace plan.
European Union (EU) countries are trying to involve the United States in their negotiations with Ukraine regarding the resolution of the conflict. This was reported by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, according to Reuters.
"We are trying to involve the American government in the negotiations that we are conducting among ourselves, as well as with Ukraine (...). We are ready to contribute to this, but the Americans will also need to contribute," the politician stated.
Merz added that a crucial part of potential security guarantees is the "long-term strengthening of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU)."
On December 10, it became known that European countries plan to continue negotiations and coordinate efforts for a peaceful resolution in Ukraine. The head of the German government emphasized that Kyiv must receive reliable security guarantees from its partners, including the United States and NATO.
