In the name of ending the Russian-Ukrainian war, Europe should help Ukraine make a difficult choice, said Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in an interview with CNN Türk, LETA reports citing UNIAN.
"Here Europe should help Ukraine make some difficult decisions together with it," said the minister.
"Indeed, some choices, some decisions for Ukraine are very hard. But in order to prevent greater losses, that is, for the greater good, it is necessary to eliminate evil, that is, the bad," noted Fidan.
"This means that a choice must be made. I know that it is hard for them. Especially the issue of territories is extremely painful," acknowledged the minister.
He noted that such decisions are difficult, and there are demands regarding guarantees for the future.
The diplomat added that this is also complicated, but Turkey continues to facilitate negotiations between the parties to the conflict.
Fidan confirmed that Turkey is ready to organize peace talks again and reminded that three rounds of negotiations took place last summer.
During these negotiations, significant progress was made on the issue of prisoner exchanges and other humanitarian matters, noted the Turkish foreign minister.
