No Crime Found: A Czech Citizen Declared Dead Suddenly Rose from the Coffin

The investigation found no criminal offense in the actions of the coroner who accidentally declared the 87-year-old woman dead in May 2025, after which she "came back to life" in the coffin, reports ČTK.

Initially, the Czech police investigated the case as a suspicion of failure to provide assistance. Investigators concluded the investigation but found no evidence of a criminal offense.

"An elderly woman was declared dead, but then she began to breathe. Unfortunately, a few days later she died in the hospital. We have already completed the investigation and transferred the case to another authority for disciplinary or administrative review," said police spokesperson Michaela Ryndlova.

Recall that on May 30, an elderly resident of Plzeň called medics and reported the sudden death of his wife. The coroner at the scene confirmed the death of the 87-year-old woman, so a funeral service was called to the location. But when the woman was placed in the coffin, she opened her eyes and began to breathe.

The coroner's office in Plzeň stated that they had ceased cooperation with the coroner involved in the incident.
