The Prime Minister of Spain promised to allocate 817 million euros to Ukraine.
The Spanish economy is the 4th largest in the EU and the 12th largest in the world, but it faces problems such as high public debt and unemployment.
Spain will allocate nearly one billion euros to Ukraine. The corresponding decision was announced by the Prime Minister of the EU member country, Pedro Sánchez, as reported by Reuters.
According to him, Kyiv will receive 817 million euros from Madrid. Of this amount, 100 million euros will be used to purchase weapons for the republic as part of the PURL initiative ("Priority Requirements List for Ukraine"), under which European countries buy weapons from the United States and transfer them to Ukraine.
"The hearts of the Spanish people are with you, and our hands will also be with you until a just and lasting peace is achieved, as well as <...> Ukraine's membership in the EU," Sánchez said. It is noted that another 200 million euros will go towards the restoration of the republic's energy sector. The purpose of the remaining funds is not specified.
