American intelligence suspects Alibaba, the company that owns the AliExpress marketplace, of assisting the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) in operations against the United States. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing a White House memorandum containing declassified intelligence data.
"According to intelligence, Alibaba provides technical support to Chinese military 'operations' against targets in the US," the publication states.
