ERR: among conscripts in Estonia, women are more motivated to continue serving in the army.

Women undergoing compulsory service in the Estonian army show greater motivation to continue a military career than men. This is reported by ERR, citing a study by the Center for Improvement and Strategic Resilience. According to the study, only five percent of male conscripts want to remain in the army. Meanwhile, half of the female conscripts express a desire to continue serving. Major Captain Sigrid Aas stated that since military service is voluntary for women, those who join are typically ready for a career as a professional military officer from the outset. She added that each year, about forty women enlist for compulsory service in Estonia, which accounts for approximately one percent of the total number of servicemen. Nevertheless, it is among them that the desire to continue service and build a career in the army is more frequently observed.
