Ukraine Strikes Oil Refinery in Volgograd

The Ukrainian army struck the oil refinery of the Russian company Lukoil in Volgograd at night, resulting in explosions and a fire at the plant, LETA reports, citing the BBC.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike.

According to the staff, the oil processing capacity at this plant is 15.7 million tons per year, which accounts for 5.6% of the total processing in Russia, the Ukrainian army stated.

Earlier, authorities in the Volgograd region reported that drone debris caused a fire in the industrial zone of the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. Officials did not specify which enterprise was affected; this area also houses the Lukoil oil refinery.

Governor of the Volgograd region Andrey Bocharov reported that in Volgograd, the drone also hit a 24-story apartment building, resulting in the death of a 48-year-old man.

The Ukrainian General Staff also announced a strike on a base for launching enemy drones in Donetsk. According to Ukrainian military sources, the target was a warehouse, maintenance facility, and launch base for Shahed-type drones located at Donetsk Airport. Explosions and significant secondary detonations were recorded at the site after the strike.
