The President of Estonia, Alar Karis, will make a state visit to Kazakhstan in mid-November, accompanied by a business delegation of 40 people.
The purpose of the visit is to emphasize the good and business bilateral relations between Estonia and Kazakhstan, to draw attention to Kazakhstan as a partner of the European Union, and to promote the strengthening of the international legal order based on law and rules, the Office of the Estonian President reported on October 4.
During the visit, President Karis will focus on strengthening economic ties, issues of artificial intelligence and sustainable development, as well as discussing opportunities for expanding cooperation in education and science to support university collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The head of state will be accompanied by representatives of the Riigikogu, members of the government, a delegation of 40 entrepreneurs, as well as the Council of Rectors of Estonian Universities and leaders of several higher education institutions. Several cultural events will take place during the visit, including concerts and exhibitions introducing Estonian culture.
The visit is taking place at the invitation of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The president's spouse, Sirje Karis, will also participate.
The last state visit at the level of heads of state took place in 2011 when the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, visited Estonia.
