On Sunday, November 2, a Russian border patrol boat under the flag of the Wagner private military company was spotted on the Narva River, reports LRT.lt.
The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted in a social media post that, apparently, this time the Wagner mercenaries have captured the Russian border service.
"Is Wagner marching on Moscow again, or starting with St. Petersburg this time? Hard to tell. From our side it looks like they’ve already annexed the Russian border guards. Who knows… Maybe the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs?" the Estonian MFA stated.
According to Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, this event only confirms that Russia's 'iron' system is cracking under the pressure of the aggressive war it has initiated and Western sanctions. "Whatever the Russians are trying to arrange on the Narva River, all of it is happening under our close observation," Tsahkna emphasized.
Recall that Wagner Group fighters began their movement towards Moscow in July 2023 under the leadership of their commander Yevgeny Prigozhin, who accused the Russian army and the Ministry of Defense of failures in the war against Ukraine. The march was halted, and Prigozhin himself died in a plane crash in the Tver region a few months later.
