Он если и антисемит, то только по чуть-чуть.

The city's population will switch to free public transport; this is crucial in relation to Israel.

Just days before the election, Muslim candidate Zohra Mamdani, leading the race for the mayor of New York City, stated that he would seek to end the Technion's activities in the city due to its connections with Israel's defense system. "It should not receive city funding; the project must be examined through the lens of BDS," Mamdani said.

Mamdani was referring to the joint campus of the Technion and Cornell University on Roosevelt Island - Cornell Tech - and stated that the Israeli educational institution, involved in developing military technologies, should not receive benefits and funding from the city. His campaign confirmed that he intends to review Cornell's partnership with the Israeli university and assess whether it aligns with the city's values and declared principles of human rights protection.

Zohra Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist, declared victory in the New York City mayoral election on Tuesday evening after former Governor Andrew Cuomo dropped out of the race. Mamdani achieved a significant victory over the more experienced governor, whose career and campaign were marred by scandals.

Speaking to his supporters, Mamdani proclaimed:

"Tonight, we made history. I will be your Democratic candidate for mayor of New York City."

After counting 93% of the votes in the primary's first round, the Muslim politician of Ugandan-Indian descent garnered 43.5% of the votes, while Cuomo trailed at 36.4%.

Mamdani, who was relatively unknown before the race, campaigned on promises of free public buses, universal childcare, freezing rent for subsidized housing, and city grocery stores funded by new taxes on the wealthy.

With open support for Palestinians and sharp criticism, he stands in opposition to much of the Democratic establishment. However, the left wing of the party has rallied around him, and he received support from two of the country's most prominent progressives: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders.

Mamdani also succeeded due to a skillful social media campaign, gaining widespread support through videos where he confronts New York voters who supported Trump in the November elections.
