Trump stated that companies are transferring chip production from Taiwan to the USA.
Major companies from Taiwan are transferring chip production to the United States due to the tariffs imposed by Trump. This was stated by the U.S. president in an interview with CBS News.
"The biggest companies are leaving Taiwan and coming to the U.S. — it’s precisely because of the tariffs. Without them, this wouldn’t have happened," Trump emphasized, noting that in two years the United States will control 40-50 percent of the chip market.
In August, the U.S. president raised trade tariffs for Taiwan, Canada, Switzerland, and several other countries. Laos and Myanmar topped the published list with the highest new tariffs at 40 percent, followed by Switzerland at 39 percent. Additionally, high tariffs affected Canada at 35 percent, Taiwan and Sri Lanka at 20 percent, and South Africa at 30 percent.
