The Armed Forces of Russia announced the testing of the nuclear missile "Burevestnik." According to President Putin, this is a success, and such "unique weapons are not possessed by anyone in the world."

The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Valery Gerasimov, reported that on October 22, a test of the nuclear missile "Burevestnik" was conducted. It is reported that the missile was in the air for about 15 hours and covered a distance of 14,000 kilometers. Gerasimov added that "this is not the limit."

The Russian news agency TASS reports that the development of the missile began after the United States withdrew from the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in December 2001. The Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized: "The creation of new strategic weapon systems is aimed at enhancing defense capabilities and preventing aggression against Russia and its allies."

Russian President Vladimir Putin claims that the nuclear-powered cruise missile "Burevestnik" has no analogs in the world. He stated this during a visit to the command post of the Joint Group of Forces.

"I have an industry report, and the assessments of the Ministry of Defense are well known. After all, this is a unique product, unmatched in the world," said Putin. "I remember well when we announced that we were developing such a weapon, even very high-level specialists told me that, yes, this is a good and worthy goal, but in the near historical perspective, it is unfeasible. This was the opinion of specialists, I repeat, of a high class."

According to TASS, the Pentagon acknowledged that the "Burevestnik" missile is capable of striking from virtually any platform "due to its exceptional range and autonomy."

What we know about the "Burevestnik" missile

According to Vladimir Putin and the Russian Ministry of Defense, the "Burevestnik" missile is comparable in size to the X-101 cruise missile but has a significantly greater range due to its compact nuclear power plant. Official data indicates that the missile can be launched from an inclined platform using a detachable rocket booster.

According to Russian military experts, the "Burevestnik" is one and a half to two times larger than the X-101, with wings located on the upper part of the fuselage rather than underneath, and has characteristic protrusions where air is likely heated by the nuclear reactor. The missile's large mass excludes aircraft such as the Tu-160 and Tu-95 as potential carriers. According to Russian sources, it has an elliptical nose section measuring about 12 meters at launch and 9 meters in flight.

Various analyses suggest that it uses a jet or turbojet engine, which implies radioactive emissions throughout its operational period, unlike conventional power plants. British intelligence describes it as a subsonic cruise missile with a nuclear power plant, possessing global range and virtually unlimited flight time, capable of attacking from unexpected directions.

However, Western experts question its strategic viability, pointing out that it will be as vulnerable as any other missile.

Meanwhile, Kirill Dmitriev, the special representative of the Russian president on a diplomatic mission in the United States, reported that during negotiations with representatives of the White House, the Russian side informed the U.S. about the successful tests of the new cruise missile "Burevestnik," as well as the operational situation on the Ukrainian front.

"It is very important that this information is directly conveyed to the leadership and key people in the U.S. presidential administration," Dmitriev noted in a statement on his Telegram channel. He also mentioned that the White House received data indicating that Russian troops surrounded Ukrainian forces in the areas of Krasnoarmeysk and Kupyansk.

According to Dmitriev, the dialogue with the American side is taking place under exceptionally difficult conditions due to alleged attempts to "block the delivery of key information" to the White House.

Dmitriev once again emphasized: Moscow continues to insist that resolving the conflict with Ukraine is only possible by addressing its root causes, not the symptoms.

Dmitriev arrived in the U.S. on Friday and announced several meetings with various representatives of the Trump administration. The goal is to seek ways to continue the dialogue, "based on respectful consideration of Russia's interests."
