Israel on Tuesday received the remains of four more hostages from the Gaza Strip, handed over by the Palestinian armed group HAMAS, the Israeli army reported, LETA writes citing AFP.

This occurred after the remains of the first four hostages were identified and delivered to Israel on Monday.

HAMAS initially handed over the remains to the Red Cross, which transported them to Israel. "Four coffins with the bodies of the deceased hostages (...) crossed the state border of Israel just recently," the army's statement said, adding that the remains were transferred to forensic experts for identification.

The remains of the first four hostages were returned on Monday just hours after HAMAS completed the release of all 20 remaining live hostages as part of a ceasefire agreement facilitated by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Nasser Medical Center in Gaza reported that it received 45 bodies of Palestinians transferred by Israel.

The hostages whose remains Israel received on Monday were identified as Israeli citizens Guy Iluz, Yossi Sharabi, and Daniel Peretz, as well as a student from an agricultural university in Nepal, Bipin Joshi.

Palestinian militants are still expected to hand over the remains of 20 hostages to Israel. This is anticipated to occur in accordance with the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
