The U.S. to Accelerate Production of Destroyers of Russian S-400 0 62

The U.S. needs to accelerate the production of Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM), known, in particular, as "destroyers" of Russian S-400 air defense systems. This was reported by Defense News.

According to Major General Frank Lozano, the U.S. Army and Lockheed Martin are currently looking for ways to increase the production of PrSM systems, which will replace the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) munitions. The officer emphasized that ATACMS production will conclude in two years, after which the corresponding production facilities will be repurposed for PrSM manufacturing.

The publication emphasizes that PrSM will play a significant role in future conflicts as it is capable of countering Chinese and Russian technologies.

Previously, the American defense contractor Lockheed Martin reported that the U.S. Army successfully completed a series of flight tests of the precision strike missile PrSM at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

In December 2019, the publication, citing Brigadier General John Rafferty, reported that the PrSM being developed for the U.S. Army, classified as "ground-to-ground," would become a "destroyer" of Russian air defense systems, such as the S-400, while in the Pacific, the weapon's target would be Chinese combat ships.
