In Mexico, at least 47 people have died as a result of floods and landslides caused by heavy rains, and another 38 are missing, authorities reported on Sunday, LETA writes, citing DPA.

About 260 settlements have been cut off from the outside world.

Floods have destroyed numerous roads and bridges. Tens of thousands of people are without electricity.

Meteorologists warn that the rains will continue. The risk of new landslides remains.

The most affected states are Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, and San Luis Potosí, located in the eastern and central parts of the country.

The highest number of fatalities has been recorded in Veracruz and Hidalgo, with cases of death also confirmed in Puebla and Querétaro.

In the state of San Luis Potosí, significant damage has been caused, but there are no casualties among residents.

The annual rainy season in Mexico is coming to an end, lasting about six months and usually ending in early November.

Heavy rains in recent days have been caused, in particular, by tropical cyclones "Priscilla" and "Raymond" in the Pacific Ocean, as well as weather conditions in the Gulf of Mexico.
