Belarus Checks Army Combat Readiness

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus announced on Saturday the start of a large-scale check of the combat readiness of the country's armed forces, reports LETA citing UNIAN.

The decision was made at the direction of the Supreme Commander of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, according to a statement from the Ministry of Defense. The purpose of the check is to "assess the ability of the troops to operate at the highest level of combat readiness."

"A set of measures is being carried out to bring the units to the highest degree of combat readiness, their deployment to certain areas, and the execution of tasks in accordance with the order," the ministry's message states.

The Secretariat of the Security Council of Belarus is overseeing the conduct of the check. Previously, similar exercises were conducted during periods of heightened military activity on the territory of neighboring Russia or as part of joint maneuvers with Russian troops.

In September, joint Russian-Belarusian exercises "West 2025" took place on the territory of Belarus.
