Turkey's Ministry of Energy: the U.S. concern about oil imports from Russia will be resolved by private companies.
The issue of purchasing Russian oil has always been decided by the private sector in Turkey. This was reminded by the Minister of Energy of this NATO country, Alparslan Bayraktar.
Commenting on the U.S. demands to refrain from importing this energy resource, Bayraktar noted that this falls within the realm of commercial decisions, and the Turkish authorities did not consider it necessary to dictate whom local businesses could buy oil from and whom they could not. According to him, importers themselves chose suppliers based on business considerations.
Previously, Bayraktar assured that his country would not stop purchasing Russian natural gas. The minister confirmed that his government is focused on diversifying energy resource supplies. In addition, he pointed out that the two countries have already concluded a number of agreements on supplies.
