11 Foods You Can Store in the Freezer (But Not Everyone Knows This)

In addition to semi-finished products, you can store nuts, bread, and much more in the freezer. A complete list can be found in our article.

Bread and Pastries

It's not worth putting stale bread in the freezer, but fresh bread can be. For convenience, cut the loaf into several pieces, take one out, thaw it in the microwave, and enjoy. Pies can also be stored in the freezer. Wrap the charlotte in special paper and freeze it. Before tea time, warm it in the oven at 150 degrees.

Corn

Ears of corn with husks can be placed in the freezer. Don't worry, the natural packaging will protect the kernels from the cold. When you crave fresh corn, peel off the husk and thaw it in the microwave. In 5 minutes, the product will be ready—take it out and boil it in salted water.

Nuts

If stored improperly, nuts can become rancid and lose their nutritional value. The freezer helps keep them fresh. However, store nuts in an airtight container, as they quickly absorb foreign odors. In this form, pistachios stay fresh for over 3 years, pecans for 22–24 months, and hazelnuts for about a year.

Tomato Paste

An opened can of paste can develop mold even in the refrigerator. The best solution is the freezer. For convenience, pour the sauce into ice cube trays. Once frozen, transfer them to bags. Before cooking, you don't need to thaw the tomato paste; just add a cube to the pot or pan.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice may be needed for baking, herbal drinks, seafood dishes, or marinades. It turns out that fruit juice can also be frozen and stored for up to six months. Pour the juice into ice cube trays, then place them in a container. Zest also freezes well in the freezer.

Vegetables

You can store chopped onions, grated carrots, bell peppers, cauliflower, pieces of pumpkin, and much more in the freezer. Homemade semi-finished products are cheaper than store-bought ones, allowing you to save on food while still eating well.

Milk

If you have leftover spoiled milk, don't rush to throw it away. Store fresh milk at sub-zero temperatures. Just keep in mind that liquid expands when frozen, so choose a larger container. Thaw it at room temperature and shake well before use. You can also freeze butter and heavy cream.

Chips

Freeze potato chips in their store packaging. It is said that they taste better when frozen, so you don't have to wait for them to thaw.

Smoothie Fruits

Pieces of ripe fruits and berries should be frozen on a tray or parchment paper, then transferred to containers. You can prepare smoothie packs right away, take them out, and blend them. A cool drink will perfectly quench your thirst and hunger in the summer heat.
