Abuse of Rosé Wine Leads to Weight Gain and Destruction of Tooth Enamel

Abuse of rosé wine harms health: it can lead to weight gain and wear of tooth enamel, said dietitian Sarah Schenker and dentist Nora Albaladavi. This was reported by the Daily Mail.

Experts explained that rosé wine is often considered a "lighter" alcohol due to its color and taste, but this is misleading. Semi-dry varieties contain a lot of sugar, which increases the calorie content of the drink. Two glasses can contain over 200 kilocalories, while the wine has no nutritional value.

Regular consumption of such wine can displace healthy foods from the diet. This can lead to weight gain, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, decreased immunity, fatigue, and even hair loss.

Dental risks are explained by the combination of acids and sugars in the wine. This mixture creates an environment for the development of cavities and accelerates the demineralization of enamel: acidity lowers the pH of saliva, and the minerals in enamel gradually dissolve.
