In the early stages, calluses usually do not cause severe pain, but over time they can become denser and deeper. This leads to discomfort when walking and a feeling of burning or pressure.

If the problem is not addressed, cracks, inflammation, and even a risk of infection may occur. It is especially important for people with chronic diseases, including diabetes, to monitor the condition of their feet.

How to Get Rid of Calluses

The approach to solving the problem should be comprehensive. First of all, it is necessary to eliminate the cause — for example, by replacing uncomfortable shoes with more suitable ones.

Among the most effective methods are:

  • regular softening of the skin (warm baths);
  • careful removal of the hardened layer using a pumice stone or special tools;
  • use of creams with moisturizing and keratolytic components;
  • wearing orthopedic insoles in case of load distribution disorders.

Experts emphasize that aggressive removal of skin can have the opposite effect — the body will start to build up the protective layer even more actively.
