There is an original way to prepare mashed potatoes. The dish will be more aromatic and less caloric. The main secret lies in replacing regular water with rich chicken broth with the addition of onion.
You will need one kilogram of potatoes, half a liter of chicken broth, and one large onion. The peeled and chopped tubers, along with the coarsely chopped onion, are placed in a pot and covered with hot broth so that it completely covers the vegetables. After that, the potatoes are boiled under a lid until cooked.
At the end, do not drain the liquid. The finished puree is mashed directly in the broth. The dish does not need salt or any spices. If desired, it can be complemented with fresh herbs or caramelized onions. You can also experiment with different types of broths — vegetable or mushroom.
