Honey and cinnamon have been named a remedy for mild insomnia

The combination of honey and cinnamon may have a positive effect in combating mild insomnia, said dietitian specialist Rosio Perez. This is reported by Deia.

According to a dietitian, taking this mixture in the evening can improve sleep quality: making it deeper and morning awakening more refreshing. However, the specialist emphasizes that such an effect is not comparable to the results provided by sleeping pills.

The action of the mixture is due to its influence on key processes responsible for healthy sleep. Thus, cinnamon helps normalize blood glucose levels, has a calming effect on the nervous system and muscle tissue. Honey, in turn, helps maintain optimal energy levels throughout the night.

The dietitian recommends consuming this mixture warm. To prepare it, one tablespoon of natural honey should be mixed with one teaspoon of ground cinnamon. The mixture can be taken as is or diluted in a small amount of warm, but not hot, water. People suffering from diabetes are advised not to use this method for improving sleep due to the high sugar content in honey.
