Cottage cheese can pose a danger in hypertension

Cottage cheese can contain a significant amount of sodium, so excessive consumption is undesirable in cases of high blood pressure, said dietitian Rob Hobson. This was reported by The Independent.

The specialist noted that the product is often considered part of a healthy diet due to its high protein content. However, during the production process, salt is often added to it. According to the expert, a standard serving of cottage cheese can contain about 300–400 milligrams more sodium than some other fermented dairy products, such as yogurt.

For healthy individuals, such an amount of sodium typically does not pose a threat. However, those who need to limit salt intake, especially with arterial hypertension, should take this indicator into account when planning their diet.

The dietitian added that it is not necessary to completely exclude cottage cheese. People with high blood pressure should simply monitor their overall salt intake and carefully read the ingredient lists of products.
