Spring is just around the corner, so it's the perfect time to plan a new trip to Europe, particularly to Spain. One of the best options is the Costa del Sol, where in April the temperature is already 23–24°C.

The publication Travel off Path has named 5 incredible places on the Costa del Sol to visit in spring to enjoy the atmosphere of the Old World and the Mediterranean without the crowds of tourists.

Marbella

Marbella is the jewel of the Costa del Sol. Here you can enjoy tapas and sangria with a view of the harbor filled with yachts and the golden Playa de la Fontanilla beach.

One of the best places in Marbella is Casco Antiguo. From the Plaza de los Naranjos, lined with orange trees, to the magnificent baroque church Iglesia de la Encarnación, you can explore in a day.

Nerja

Nerja is one of those quiet resort towns where you can admire sunsets, visit secluded coves, and have an aperitif in a popular local bar.

Speaking of beaches, Playa de Burriana is a long picturesque stretch of sand, squeezed between ordinary beach bars and the azure sea. The town also features the Balcony of Europe - a viewpoint on a cliff that offers breathtaking views of the Costa del Sol and the Mediterranean Sea.

Frigiliana

Just a 10-minute drive from Nerja, nestled among the green Andalusian hills, Frigiliana is a must-visit place in spring. It not only boasts a beautiful architectural ensemble - imagine a maze of narrow cobbled streets lined with white houses adorned with exquisite flower pots - but also has an intriguing history.

It is one of the best-preserved Moorish towns in the region. The charming "Barribarto" - a medieval center with stone steps and winding streets - is essentially a portal to the past.

Estepona

Estepona is the perfect alternative to the much busier Marbella to the east - it is a golden mean between a bustling resort town with all the necessary amenities and a tranquil coastal resort that still feels residential.

In the Casco Antiguo, there are pristine townhouses with well-kept windows decorated with flower pots, and squares surrounded by cafes without the crowds.

The main attraction is the beautiful murals scattered throughout the town, featuring unique artistic elements that breathe even more life into the monochrome urban landscape. Of course, the town has a long promenade running parallel to the beautiful sandy beach, and the seafood here will not disappoint.

San Luis de Sabinillas

Located in a quieter part of the Costa del Sol, with far fewer tourists than Marbella or Estepona, San Luis de Sabinillas has an authentic Andalusian atmosphere.

There are no overcrowded areas, no flashy entertainment, and the main beach is wide, long, and washed by warm shallow waters.
