In winter, glasses constantly become covered with a foggy film when transitioning from a warm room to the cold. To keep walks comfortable and vision clear, it is enough to know a few proven methods for combating condensation on the lenses.
Home Remedies
Soap Foam — a popular and effective method.
How to use: apply a small amount of liquid soap (without moisturizing additives) or soap foam to the lenses, gently rubbing it over the entire surface. Then wipe with a dry soft cloth (microfiber works perfectly). A thin soap film prevents condensation from forming. You can also rub a piece of soap on the lenses with a cloth.
Important: do not use too much soap and do not wash the glasses with water after treatment — the effect will disappear.
Toothpaste — an unexpected helper.
How to use: apply a small amount of non-abrasive toothpaste (without gel and whitening particles) to the lenses, gently spread it, and rinse with water. Wipe dry.
Important: test the toothpaste on an inconspicuous area to avoid scratching the lenses.
Special Products
In optical and sporting goods stores, sprays and wipes with a hydrophobic composition are sold, which prevent condensation buildup.
- Sprays: apply a small amount to a cloth and spread it over the lenses.
- Wipes: wipe the lenses with a cloth containing a protective composition.
Useful Tricks
- Breathe to the side: when going outside, direct your breath slightly to the side or down to reduce the contact of warm, humid air with your glasses.
- Remove glasses for a short time: when frequently transitioning from heat to cold, allow your glasses to adapt.
- Scarf or hood: by covering the lower part of your face, reduce the flow of warm air onto the lenses.
- Do not wipe glasses with your sleeve or edge of clothing: this can scratch the lenses and is ineffective for preventing fogging.
These simple measures will help maintain clear lenses and comfortable vision in cold weather.
