From Olympic Victories to the Stage: Roman Kostomarov Surprised Fans with Changes

Roman Kostomarov explained why figure skating no longer holds the central place in his life and what he has become passionate about after sports.

Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov revealed that the sport, which has been the center of his life for many years, is now losing its former significance. According to the athlete, after the amputation of his limbs, figure skating is gradually taking a back seat.

"It’s clear that my passion for sports and figure skating is slowly but surely fading from my life, and if it used to take up all my free time and energize me, today circumstances are putting me in new conditions. I have to adapt," Roman Kostomarov confessed in an exclusive interview with "Kleo".

Kostomarov noted that he is currently trying out new formats and activities that he had never considered before. One of the unexpected discoveries for him has been singing. In Ilya Averbukh's ice show "Hallelujah of Love," the athlete took to the ice not only as a figure skater but also as a performer, singing the song "There is Only a Moment."

Kostomarov himself admits that he views singing as a hobby and is in no rush to turn it into a profession. Nevertheless, working with an orchestra, studio rehearsals, and live sound have become an important and inspiring experience for him.

In addition to the stage, the Olympic champion is also drawn to television projects, he confessed in a conversation with "Kleo." He does not hide his interest in formats related to extreme sports and overcoming challenges—topics that resonate with him personally today. According to Kostomarov, he is currently learning to enjoy each day, connect with people, and share his life experiences, which, as he sees it, have become a source of support and motivation for many.

Recall that in early 2023, due to complications from pneumonia, Kostomarov underwent amputation of his feet and hands. He now moves with the help of prosthetics.
