To Extend Life, One Should Start Gaining Muscle Mass at 30 Years Old

To increase life expectancy at the age of 30, one should focus on gaining muscle mass, and at 40, start regular medical check-ups, said Dr. Ian K. Smith from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. This is reported by the Daily Mirror.

At 30 years old, according to the specialist, it is important to focus on aging prevention. Despite the onset of metabolic changes, the body still effectively resists age-related changes. The doctor advises emphasizing lean protein, plant-based foods, and healthy fats, minimizing the consumption of ultra-processed foods, and regularly engaging in sports to build and maintain muscle mass.

By the age of 40, the focus shifts from accumulating resources to protecting them. At this age, conscious training without the risk of injury, careful attention to diet, and systematic medical check-ups are particularly important.

After 50 years, the loss of muscle mass accelerates, and the risk of chronic diseases increases. The priority becomes maintaining the body's resilience: increasing the proportion of healthy fats and plant foods in the diet, and exercises for joint mobility. At the age of over 60, the key task is to maintain independence, which requires regular physical activity and work on cognitive functions.
