Nutritionist Valentina Palazzo recommended revising eating habits during the winter period, especially the timing of the last meal. In her opinion, dinner should be eaten no later than 7 PM during this time of year. This is reported by La Razon.
The expert explained that in the cold season, due to the lack of sunlight, the body starts to produce melatonin—the hormone responsible for sleep—earlier. If dinner is eaten later, the digestion process begins at a time when the body is already transitioning into rest mode, disrupting natural biological rhythms. This can lead to heaviness in the stomach, restless sleep, increased irritability, and morning fatigue.
Palazzo emphasized that it is especially important to avoid sweets and alcohol in the evening. In her opinion, an optimal dinner should include lean sources of protein, boiled vegetables, and a small portion of complex carbohydrates to ensure a feeling of fullness without burdening digestion.
