Outstanding jazz vocalist Sachal Vasandani to be guest at the Dzintari Concert Hall

On December 5, a jazz evening in New York will take place at the Dzintari Concert Hall as part of the 'Jurmala Jazz' series featuring Sachal Vasandani, one of the greatest jazz vocalists of his generation, and his trio. Sachal Vasandani's trio includes saxophonist John Ellis and guitarist Femi Tomowo.

Sachal Vasandani is known for his unique voice – timbre and special phrasing that make him one of the most prominent jazz artists of our time. His performances combine charm and confidence as he conducts large big bands, as well as poignant fragility when he sings classic ballads. Sachal Vasandani's approach to improvisation is marked by creative imagination, both in lyrics and in the creation of melodies and rhythms. The New York Times described him as: "A vibrant, young singer with overflowing charisma. Elegant and with a subtle imagination." In turn, renowned trumpeter Wynton Marsalis praised him, stating: "Sachal Vasandani's singing reveals emotion and intelligence... he is consistent and inimitable.

His latest album "Best Life Now" was released in early 2025, produced by world-renowned drummer Nate Smith. A review of the album on paris-move.com states: "Firmly rooted in jazz but boldly pushing its traditional boundaries, the album 'Best Life Now' affirms Sachal's status as one of the most important figures on the New York music scene. He possesses a charisma that allows him to lead a thirteen-piece big band on the most prestigious stages."

Sachal has collaborated with musical giants such as Milton Nascimento, Wynton Marsalis, Bobby McFerrin, and Jon Hendricks, regularly performing at the most prestigious festivals and concert halls around the world. Sachal is also known as a composer, lyricist, and educator, enriching jazz culture with his broad and unique musical vision.
