Bauska Invites You to the Christmas Exhibition "Five Minutes Until..."

From November 30, 2025, to January 4, 2026, the Bauska Museum will host the Christmas exhibition "Five Minutes Until...".

The Bauska Museum invites you to the Christmas exhibition "Five Minutes Until...", dedicated to two themes – time and circus. The exhibition features historical wall clocks, testimonies of the history of the Riga Circus, Christmas decorations, new museum acquisitions, author dolls, children's drawings, and a space for research.

The historical clocks are exhibits from the collections of the Bauska and Jūrmala museums, made between the second half of the 19th century and the late 1930s. They illustrate the development of clockmaking and were once not only precise timekeepers but also the soul of the home and companions of everyday life.

The exhibition of new acquisitions of the Bauska Museum will showcase how an everyday object becomes a witness of its era. It will feature some of the museum's new acquisitions over the past five years, which vividly demonstrate this transformation.

The exhibition dedicated to the history of the Riga Circus was created in collaboration with Lolita Lipinska, who began her career in the circus in 1975 as an aerial gymnast but directed it for 10 years – from 2006 to 2016. You will be able to see circus props, costumes, and other historical evidence revealing the daily life of the circus in different eras. The circus art of Latvia will also be represented in photographs by Georgs Manzirovs.

A private collection of Christmas ornaments by art historian Irena Bužinska, premiering at the Bauska Museum, will tell about Christmas decorations made of glass, cotton, plastic, foam, lavsan, and paper. It will be complemented by video materials on the history of Christmas ornaments and photographs sent by residents from Christmas and New Year celebrations, revealing festive traditions from a personal perspective.

Doll and toy masters of the Baltic Guild explore the themes of time and circus using puppet characters and creative imagination, while the museum's Christmas tree will be decorated with Christmas ornaments made by the masters.

In the hall designated for entertainment and education, visitors will be able to participate in various circus and entertainment activities.
