In December, the Museum of the Riga Jugendstil Center Opens the Exhibition 'Christmas Tale'

Starting December 5, the Museum of the Riga Jugendstil Center invites visitors to the exhibition 'Christmas Tale', which includes the museum's interior designed by Tamara Chudnovska, three festive trees decorated in the style of the 19th century, special lighting of the space, and an exhibition dedicated to the Christmas tale. The exhibition will feature antique Christmas-themed items from the museum's collection, and in the evening hours, passersby will be able to see a large Christmas tree in the living room through the bay window.

Every year, the Museum of the Riga Jugendstil Center decorates its interior for Christmas, embodying the traditions of decorating spaces from the Art Nouveau era. This year, the festive decoration of the museum and three Christmas trees will also be designed by artist T. Chudnovska. An especially lavish tree will be set up in the museum's living room, adorned with wooden toys typical of the late 19th century. Each decoration carries Christmas symbolism – peace, light, hope – and tells the story of the traditions of decorating Christmas trees.

The museum's exhibition hall will feature a collection of Christmas items in the Art Nouveau style from the museum's collection – original Dresden cardboard decorations, glass and wooden ornaments, gingerbread molds, an antique Christmas lamp with a painted glass dome, festive greetings, and other items related to Christmas traditions – which will allow museum visitors to feel the joy of Christmas. The exhibition will be complemented by wooden decorations from T. Chudnovska's private collection.

To maintain the atmosphere created at the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to take photos in a photo booth, as well as purchase Art Nouveau-style Christmas cards for themselves and their friends.

Families with children are invited to the children's event 'Christmas Tale' on December 20 at 12:00 and 16:00. Children will learn about Christmas traditions and tree decoration, what makes the holiday warm and family-oriented, sing together, play games, solve riddles, admire the trees in the museum's interior, and visit the exhibition 'Christmas Tale'.

Families with children aged 3 to 10 are invited to the event. Pre-registration is required by phone at +371 67181465 or by email at jugendstils@riga.lv.

The exhibition at the Riga Jugendstil Center is open until January 11, 2026.
