To keep your violet blooming year-round, expensive fertilizers are not necessary.
Violets are a true decoration for any home. Their delicate petals fill the space with warmth and coziness. However, flower growers often face a problem: instead of abundant blooming, the plant only produces leaves. It turns out there is a simple and effective way to make a violet bloom continuously; you just need to add one spoonful of natural fertilizer to the root.
What a Violet Needs for Continuous Blooming
For abundant and prolonged blooming, violets need three things:
-
Nutrient-rich soil that is high in potassium and phosphorus.
-
Soft, diffused light without direct sunlight;
-
Proper fertilization that stimulates bud formation.
It is the last point that often becomes decisive. Even a healthy violet will not bloom without sufficient nutrients.
Experienced flower growers recommend a simple yet very effective fertilizer: wood ash. Just one teaspoon at the root once a month is enough to see results in just 2-3 weeks.
Ash contains potassium and phosphorus — the main elements that stimulate bud formation. It reduces soil acidity, making it more favorable for blooming. It has antiseptic properties, thus protecting the roots from rot.
You can prepare a solution — 1 tablespoon of ash in 1 liter of water, infuse for a day, and water at the root no more than once every 10 days.
Other Natural Blooming Stimulators for Violets
If you do not have ash, other fertilizers work great:
-
Banana peels — rich in potassium.
-
Onion peel infusion — a natural immunomodulator for plants.
-
Sugar solution (1 teaspoon per cup of water) — adds energy for bud growth.
