Jonathan Bailey has topped the annual list of the sexiest men in the world according to People magazine.
For the 37-year-old British actor, known for his roles in the series "Bridgerton" and "Crashing," as well as the musical "Wicked," this recognition came as a surprise. According to Bailey, he struggled to keep the news a secret from friends and family.
"It’s a huge honor. Of course, I’m incredibly flattered. And... it’s completely absurd," the actor said.
Bailey notes with a smile that his loved ones have seen his journey from the very beginning and know "all the secrets" – from insecurities to early unsuccessful auditions.
In recent years, the actor has solidified his status as a new British star in Hollywood. His role as Lord Anthony in "Bridgerton" brought him international fame, while his participation in the project "Crashing" earned him an Emmy nomination. Last year, he also made his debut in the musical "Wicked," and soon appeared in the blockbuster "Jurassic World: Dominion" alongside actress Scarlett Johansson.
Originally from Oxfordshire, Bailey dreamed of the stage from a young age: at five, he attended a performance of "Oliver!" and decided that he would one day become an actor. By the age of seven, he was performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and over the years, he became sought after both on stage and on screen.
Despite his rapid success, the actor does not consider himself a star. Bailey shared that he feels awkward and doubts that this feeling will ever leave him.
