"My home is my fortress" — this expression rightly reflects our expectations from a dwelling, that it should be safe, reliable, and help us rest and recharge. Therefore, it is so important not to overload your home with gadgets that can reduce our stress resilience.
During the cold season, the temptation to warm yourself with some sophisticated artificial means is particularly great. For example, using an electric blanket or a heating pad. Fortunately, there are plenty of such devices available on marketplaces. But are they worth the expense? And do they pose harm under the guise of false benefits and comfort? Integrative medicine doctor Ekaterina Makarova shared which warming gadgets are worth buying and which ones are better to avoid.
Shoe Dryer
To keep your feet warm, keep your shoes warm and dry. This is exactly what modern shoe dryers are designed for. They have replaced crumpled newspapers and unnecessary rags that our mothers and grandmothers stuffed into boots and shoes after coming home from work. "This dryer will not only help prepare your shoes for the next day but will also eliminate the harmful effects of parasites," says the doctor.
Foot Warmer
If you are freezing outside, rushed home from the cold, and need urgent heating assistance, then immersing your feet in a warm fur bag is just the thing. Undoubtedly, an eco-friendly and suitable way to quickly warm up is a regular heating pad filled with hot water and placed under the blanket in bed. "This will allow you to quickly achieve a sense of coziness, warmth, and tranquility and warm up in bed," explains Ekaterina.
Electric Blanket
The descriptions of this miracle blanket promise all sorts of things. It helps you fall asleep in almost a minute, warms you without drying out the air and skin, and even fights microbes in the room. Some sellers manage to come up with even more fantastic advantages just to sell as many units as possible, especially during the season. But in reality, it is just an ordinary "toy" that, of course, warms you but also emits not very beneficial waves, creating an unfavorable field in the bedroom. By using heated blankets, you deprive your body of the ability to self-regulate its temperature to a comfortable level if it is slightly cool in bed. This negatively impacts immunity. Moreover, sleeping under the weight of an electric device is unsafe.
Good Old Life Hacks
Ekaterina recommends warming up before bed in a hot bath. "Such a home spa procedure sets you up for sleep, relaxation, shifts your focus, and allows you not only to warm up quickly but also to rest," she reminds. It would also be good to stock up on a couple of pairs of warm woolen socks or knee-highs.
"These items not only help you warm up but also fill you with the good energy of those people who worked for you, created, knitted all this, with the energy of natural wool. They work flawlessly, do not require the investment that electric devices do, and help you stay healthy," concludes the doctor.
