Every year with the arrival of autumn, makeup incorporates the colors of the changing nature — all shades of gold, brown, soft bronze, the color of withered leaves, and ripe berries. Bright, neon summer colors transform into warm, cozy tones, satin textures. However, the trends of autumn 2025 deviate from the usual script and bring new, fresh, unusual colors. Makeup artist Tasha Itunina tells us about them.
Lilac Shades
Perhaps the most unusual color of this autumn is lilac. Its spectrum is quite broad — from delicate lavender in a translucent haze to rich plum-purple. "And although the color is quite complex, it can easily be adapted to any makeup and appearance color type. It will look weightless and refreshing in daytime makeup and mysterious and sophisticated in evening looks," says our expert.
Monochromatic makeup remains in fashion. But if you are afraid of overdoing it with a complex lilac shade, you can use it in details: eyeshadows blended into a translucent haze, elegant colored eyeliner, purple mascara, lip gloss with a lilac sheen — choose just one.
"Lilac blush looks very fresh. It seems to erase fatigue and makes the skin tone more even and clean. Unlike the usual peach shades, lilac-blush should be applied not to the apples of the cheeks but closer to the cheekbones and blended towards the temples. This way, the face will look lifted and fresh, rather than painfully unhealthy. Choose cream textures for blush — they make it easier to create a soft transition into a light haze," advises the expert.

If you have a warm color type and lilac shades are too bold and complex for you, the usual autumn colors are still trending. The makeup artist says: "Natural gold, copper, amber, terracotta, rich rust, noble olive, muted caramel, and all variations of brown — these are the main colors of the season. And they are maximally versatile — suitable for any eye and skin color."
The combination of such natural, soft, yet bright colors will make your makeup harmonious and elegant, emphasizing the depth and warmth of autumn looks.
Bright but Elegant Looks
The trends of this season call for emphasizing individuality. There is still a focus on beautiful natural skin, not overloaded with dense textures. A light foundation with a satin glow or BB cream will help with this. "If summer had a trend for shiny, pancake-like skin, autumn slightly slows down. It's better to keep the T-zone matte, and carry a pack of mattifying wipes in your bag," advises the makeup artist.
Beautiful skin glow can be achieved with blush and bronzer. Moreover, the application area of these two products no longer has a clear boundary and merges into one, which led to the name of the new trend — blushing — a mix of blush (blush) and bronzer (bronzer). Tasha says: "Blush and bronzer should not be matte but have a glow. This is easy to achieve — just apply a highlighter of a similar shade on top, as if polishing the skin. Or buy blush with a satin finish right away. Prefer cream textures — they not only make the makeup more long-lasting but also look more natural."

For lovers of bright, unusual makeup, autumn 2025 has brought a trend for metallic duochromes — echoes of the 80s disco style. Complex color shifts — from purple to green, from pink to gold, from blue to orange. "If before makeup artists achieved such unusual color transitions with complex techniques, now it can be done in seconds. Colored duochrome sparkles, cream chameleon eyeshadows, long-lasting pencils with a metallic sheen. They can be applied to the entire movable eyelid or used as a bright accent in the inner corner of the eyes. Chameleon eyeliners look very unusual and cosmic," advises the makeup artist.
