How to Understand That Everything is Fine in Your Life, Even If You Don«t Feel It

Some people maintain optimism and positivity even in the most critical circumstances, while others may experience severe nervous shock and fall into depression over a completely simple and unworthy situation. There are also those who are simply skeptical about life, always expecting a catch. There are many such people, and they find it very difficult to have a positive or at least objective attitude toward life. How to understand that everything is fine in your life, even if you don't feel it, we will explore.

Expert - Yulia Sinyutina, psychologist

Why People Complain About Life

It is human nature to be anxious. The level of stress does not always directly depend on the severity of the circumstances and situations that cause a negative emotional reaction. Much more important are the psychological traits and personality type of the individual. Psychological studies have found that most people live in comfort. It has been established that almost anyone, when faced with a truly uncomfortable or challenging life situation, begins to actively seek a way out and tries to fix it. People often do not take action when they are generally satisfied with their lives. However, we often hear complaints from friends or acquaintances about how hard their lives are. At the same time, they have been living this “hard” life for years without doing anything to change it.

In reality, these people live exactly as they are comfortable. The question is that the concept of comfort varies among individuals. Some may live unhappily in abundance, while others are happy under more modest conditions.

So why do most people who live a life they dislike complain about it? The answer is straightforward: they enjoy doing it. It gives them a secondary benefit in the form of external care and attention. The truth is that their position and social status as a victim or “eternal martyr” suits them.

Criteria for Assessing a “Good Life”

You probably remember a picture with the following content:

Do you have a roof over your head? — Many people on the planet do not.

Do you have enough drinking water? — Many people on the planet do not.

Do you have food? — Many people on the planet do not.

Do you have a job? — Many people on the planet do not.

So why are you always dissatisfied?! — You are a lucky one!

This clearly shows us that what we have is already a lot, as others do not even have that. If you want an objective view of your life, start by answering those very questions about food and shelter. Do you have enough to eat and a place to work? And let’s continue: do you have the physical ability to provide yourself with a decent life? It is worth noting that not everyone is fortunate: not all have favorable initial conditions and physical capabilities. At the same time, many of those who were born or became disabled during their lives eventually begin to feel significantly happier than ordinary people. So is it worth waiting for negative events to realize how much freedom you have right now, possessing health and full physical capabilities? And how happily you can live each day if you do not concentrate your attention on any one problem.

When we objectively live well but complain about trivial matters, giving excessive importance to them, life can present us with real problems. And then those initial problems will seem trivial. Is it worth tempting fate to later face something truly serious or irreparable? It makes sense to take another look at your life, smile, and tell yourself: “Actually, I’m not living so badly”! Most likely, this will be the true truth.
