Hair Dryer in the Household: Unusual Ways to Use It

Many know the hair dryer only as a device for drying hair and adding volume to hairstyles. In fact, this device can be useful in many household situations.

Removing Stickers and Labels

To easily remove stuck price tags or stickers, direct the hot air from the hair dryer onto the surface. After 20–30 seconds, the adhesive will soften, and the label can be carefully removed from plastic, ceramics, metal, glass, or mirrors. This method is also suitable for children's stickers on furniture or desks.

Removing Band-Aids and Medical Dressings

A hair dryer helps to remove sticky Band-Aids without pain. Blow warm air on the used Band-Aid for a few seconds, after which it can be easily removed. This method is also effective for medical dressings, without damaging the skin or hair.

Removing Wax and Crayon Marks

Wax drips on tables or candle holders, as well as marks from colored wax crayons, become easily removable after being heated with a hair dryer. Simply warm the surface and gently wipe it with a microfiber cloth or a household sponge.

Eliminating Water Stains on Furniture

A hair dryer helps to eliminate water marks on wooden furniture from mugs or glasses. To do this, turn on the cold setting and direct a narrow stream of air at the problem area. After a few seconds, the stain will gradually disappear.

Glue and Tape

A hair dryer speeds up the bonding of glue and increases the strength of double-sided tape. If you need to securely attach self-adhesive hooks, holders, hanging baskets, or lighting, warm the adhesive areas with hot air — the bond will become much stronger.

Stretching Tight Shoes

To stretch tight shoes, wear slightly damp terry socks and the shoes that need to be expanded. Turn on the hair dryer for a few minutes, directing warm air at the shoes from all sides, then walk in them until they cool down. This method is effective only for leather shoes.
