This week, EU ministers discussed how Ukraine can best utilize the €90 billion loan provided by the EU. The Estonian Defense Minister, amid a corruption scandal in Ukraine, told Euronews that there is "no doubt" that the funds should not be misused.

Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur stated on Euronews' program "Europe Today" that it is "undoubtedly" necessary to ensure accountability regarding the EU loan for Ukraine amounting to €90 billion.

Pevkur's remarks came amid an investigation into Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, on suspicion of corruption.

"We need to ensure accountability," Pevkur said in an interview with Euronews' program "Europe Today."

"Ukrainians take this issue very seriously because it is important for them that there are no rumors or problems related to such assistance. In the end, they need to ensure support for the coming years - even when the war is over," Pevkur pointed out.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov attended the EU Foreign Affairs Council discussions on Tuesday, which focused on defense issues. Pevkur stated that Fedorov should demonstrate how these funds will be used to dispel concerns not only among Ukrainians but also in Europe.

"Ukrainians still need our help, our support to rebuild Ukraine and help them become a normal European country," the Estonian minister declared.

"Therefore, first and foremost, Ukrainians must show their people and us that everything is in order."
