The Pentagon Declassifies UFO Archives That Were Hidden for Decades 0

The Pentagon has released archival materials on UFOs, or, as it is now officially referred to in the U.S., "unidentified anomalous phenomena." The American military department announced the publication on social media while also launching a program with an almost Hollywood-like name: Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters.

The administration of Donald Trump added that it is betting on "maximum transparency" and will no longer, as "was done before," shy away from answers or convince the public that nothing unusual exists.

More than 162 files have already emerged. Among them are photos, videos, intelligence reports, FBI documents, and eyewitness testimonies. Moreover, these are not just accounts from random citizens who noticed strange lights in the sky. The archive includes testimonies from military personnel, pilots, and even NASA astronauts.

Particular attention was drawn to documents from the U.S. Air Force dated November 1948, dedicated to "flying saucers" and unidentified objects. Reports and testimonies collected from 1947 to 1968 were also published – the years when the UFO story boom began in America. Among them are photographs taken from the Moon by astronauts of the Apollo 12 mission.

The publication of materials will not happen all at once and not in full. The Pentagon explained that the task turned out to be literally gigantic. We are talking about tens of millions of documents, some of which still exist only on paper. All these materials are scattered across various archives and agencies, so the declassification process will stretch over months, and possibly longer. New files are promised to be published every few weeks as they are analyzed and the classification is lifted.

At the same time, U.S. authorities immediately clarified: the published materials will mainly concern unresolved cases, and the government still has no definitive conclusions about the nature of the observed phenomena. The U.S. Department of Defense admitted that in many episodes there is simply not enough data to make unambiguous conclusions. Therefore, the agency called for the involvement of independent experts and the private sector in the analysis.

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth pointed out that the documents had been hidden behind a veil of secrecy for decades, which fueled Americans' suspicions. Now it is time to show the public what is actually stored in government archives.

Recall that back in February, Trump instructed intelligence agencies to prepare the publication of materials on anomalous phenomena, and at the end of April promised to present documents related to the UFO phenomenon to the world. At that time, he noted that this topic literally captivates people's minds.

In this context, Barack Obama was also recalled, who had previously spoken on the topic of aliens. The former U.S. president acknowledged that unexplained phenomena do indeed exist, but he himself has not seen any aliens. At the same time, Obama attempted to dispel one of the most popular myths: there is no underground base with aliens in the famous "Area 51," although conspiracy theory enthusiasts were not convinced.

American politicians also supported the publication of the documents. Congresswoman Paulina Anna Luna stated that U.S. citizens deserve transparency and access to information that the government, in her opinion, has hidden for decades. She called the publication of the archives a huge step in the right direction.

The irony of this whole story is that the more the authorities publish documents, the stronger the public's interest grows. Because it is one thing to hear stories about "flying saucers" on television shows, and quite another to read real reports from military pilots and intelligence who themselves could not explain what they saw.
