The minimum memory capacity of the new model has doubled.
Apple has introduced the iPhone 17e. The device features the latest A19 chip, providing high performance “for any tasks,” as well as the C1X modem — it is twice as fast compared to the previous generation model, according to a press release on the manufacturer's website. The smartphone starts at $599.
The new model has the same design as the previous version, the iPhone 16e. Apple has retained the notch at the top of the display. The screen size also remains the same — 6.1 inches Super Retina XDR with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. It is noted that the Ceramic Shield 2 glass provides three times higher scratch resistance compared to the previous generation and reduces glare.
The smartphone is available in three colors — black, white, and pink. The minimum memory capacity of the new model has doubled to 256 GB.
“Our users want a device that will last long, and the iPhone 17e is just that. With the A19 for incredible performance, doubled base memory, improved camera, and enhanced durability, the iPhone 17e will be fast, secure, and valuable for many years,” said Apple’s Vice President of Marketing, Kayanne Drance.
As expected, the new model addresses one of the main drawbacks of the previous iPhone 16e. The new version supports MagSafe — wireless charging with a power of up to 15 W, while the 16e was limited to the Qi1 standard with a power of up to 7.5 W. The iPhone can charge up to 50% in 30 minutes with adapters.
The built-in A19 chip ensures fast performance in daily tasks. The 16-core Neural Engine chip is optimized for complex generative models and console-level mobile games, while built-in accelerators allow Apple Intelligence and other AI models to operate faster than before. The new C1X modem is twice as fast as the C1 in the iPhone 16e and consumes 30% less power.
The iPhone is also equipped with a single 48-megapixel Fusion camera with an improved portrait mode. The camera can shoot video in 4K resolution with Dolby Vision technology and improved noise filtering; the device also supports Spatial Audio (3D sound).
The new model will go on sale on March 11.
