Android Smartphones Will Protect Against Battery Drainers

Android has introduced protection against applications that drain smartphone batteries.

Android smartphones have introduced protection against applications that excessively drain battery charge. This was noted by the publication FoneArena.

A feature has appeared in the Android ecosystem that Google announced back in November 2025. In the new version, the operating system will more closely monitor how each application consumes battery charge. The system will automatically limit such programs, and in case of repeated violations, battery drainers will be marked in the Google Play search.

Some applications on Android can run in the background — for example, messengers or social media services. Google noted that many programs abuse this feature, launching in the background too frequently, which leads to increased battery drain. The new Android feature will prevent applications from exiting sleep mode.

The company has also devised other measures to combat resource-intensive programs. First and foremost, Google specialists will contact developers of popular programs and provide advice on optimizing applications. If this does not help, they will be marked on the Google Play page as applications that consume excessive energy. Such programs will also be ranked lower in the store's search results, making them harder to find.

In early March, journalists from BGR listed the details that differentiate expensive and affordable smartphones. Primarily, they included processors, memory, display, and camera.
