MacRumors: Apple has begun production of a foldable iPhone with a 7.8-inch screen.
Apple Inc. has launched the production of a foldable iPhone. This was reported by the specialized publication MacRumors, citing an insider with the nickname Fixed Focus Digital.
Sources have revealed that the American company has placed orders for the production of the device with partners in China. They also stated that the screen of the foldable device will measure 7.8 inches when unfolded. The main feature of the iPhone compared to other gadgets is said to be the minimal size of the crease.
Journalists explained that all foldable smartphones available on the market have a crease on the flexible screen. However, the models differ from each other in terms of the depth and angle of the crease. Fixed Focus Digital found that the depth of the crease in the iPhone, whose production has started, is only 0.15 millimeters. This means it is barely noticeable to the naked eye. The angle of the bend is 2.5 degrees.
The article states that Apple's placement of orders for the production of smartphones effectively means that the company will unveil the foldable device this year. Typically, iPhone production begins several months before its market release.
