NASA Postpones Launch of Lunar Mission

NASA has postponed the launch of the crewed lunar mission Artemis II to March.

NASA has postponed the launch of the crewed lunar mission Artemis II from February to March. This was reported on the website of the American space agency.

"After completing today's dress rehearsal, we are moving the launch timeline from February to March, [this month] will provide the earliest opportunity for the launch of Artemis II," said NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman.

The head noted that during the dress rehearsal, there was a liquid oxygen leak in the area of the central core of the Space Launch System (SLS) heavy-lift rocket, the causes of which need to be determined and addressed.

Previously, NASA reported that weather conditions would allow for the final tests of the SLS heavy-lift rocket on Monday, February 2, which means the first attempt to launch the Artemis II mission could take place in just six days — on February 8.
