Lockheed Martin confirmed the involvement of the RQ-170 UAV in the overthrow of Maduro.
The American defense contractor Lockheed Martin has confirmed the involvement of its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) RQ-170 Sentinel in the operation to overthrow Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. This model of drone, previously spotted over the Black Sea, could have provided US President Donald Trump with a near real-time broadcast of Operation Absolute Resolve. This was reported by the portal TWZ.
"Lockheed Martin’s products have once again proven their critical importance for the most complex missions of the American military. The recent Operation Absolute Resolve [in Venezuela] included F-35 and F-22 fighters, RQ-170 Sentinel stealth drones, and Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopters, which helped ensure the mission's success and safely return our armed forces personnel home," boasted CEO Jim Taiclet during a conference call following the last financial quarter.
The portal notes that one or two RQ-170 Sentinel UAVs participated in Operation Absolute Resolve. The publication suggests that the stealth drones could have tracked Maduro's movements and his 'lifestyle' for an extended period, well before the special operation began, as well as monitored his security detail. "This data would have allowed high-ranking officials, including President Donald Trump, to observe the operation in real time," the article states.
It also mentions that the RQ-170 was involved in spying on Russian Armed Forces facilities in the Black Sea region from 2022 to 2023.
Earlier, TWZ noted that US special forces may use 'pain rays' and 'electric bombs' during operations.
