A setting with background sounds for better sleep has been found in iPhone.
Journalists from TechRadar reported on a secret iPhone setting designed for sleep. The material was published on the media's website.
The authors noted that with iOS 26, Apple smartphones introduced the "Background Sounds" feature. In this mode, the phone can generate and play specific sounds — typically, this function is used to help users fall asleep faster.
"Perhaps this is the most underrated accessibility feature on your iPhone," the journalists stated. When activated, the iPhone plays sounds of rain, thunder, airplanes, a crackling fire, human speech, and other recordings. According to the journalists, monotonous sounds help many people relax and fall asleep.
To enable background sounds, you need to open the iPhone settings and go to the "Accessibility" section. Here, you should navigate to the "Audio/Visual" subsection, and then open the "Background Sounds" option. You can then choose from a selection of recorded sounds.
"It is scientifically proven that sounds similar to white noise help people sleep better, so if you have a light sleep or noisy neighbors that make it difficult to fall asleep, Apple's hidden sound library on the iPhone may be the solution you’ve been looking for," the specialists concluded.
