Android has made it more difficult to delete built-in OS applications.
Some Android users have lost the ability to delete built-in applications from the operating system (OS). This was reported by Android Police.
The issue was noticed in early December. Social media users observed that the 'Delete' button had disappeared from the page of apps in Google Play that are built into the OS — only the 'Open' button remained. Media journalists noted that the problem is widespread. After about a week, the missing button returned for most users.
According to specialists, the problem was specifically related to Google, Android Auto, and other programs that are pre-installed on smartphones running Android. "There are several reasons why users might want to delete system applications," the journalists stated. They noted that many programs are unnecessary for a number of users and take up space in the device's memory.
Despite the fact that the 'Delete' button returned after some time, the issue persisted for some users. Specialists explained that to delete programs, one can go to settings, select the 'Apps' section, and then go to the 'View all apps' subsection.
