Google: users of phones based on the Android operating system receive fraudulent messages less often than those on iOS (the operating system for iPhone).
Google conducted a study and found that Android users are better protected from fraud than iOS users. This is stated in a report published on the Google blog.
The study was conducted in collaboration with YouGov, surveying 5,000 smartphone users from the USA, India, and Brazil. It turned out that iOS phone owners report receiving three or more fraudulent SMS messages per week 65 percent more often than Android users. At the same time, Android users admitted they had not received any SMS from fraudsters 58 percent more often.
Additionally, Android users described their device protection system as "very effective" or "extremely effective" 20 percent more often than iOS users. Based on this information, Google stated that the Android operating system (OS) is safer than iOS when it comes to protection against malicious spam.
Google specialists emphasized that Android features a reliable level of call filtering, fraud detection, and real-time fraud alert authentication.
It was previously reported that a virus capable of stealing money from users' banking applications was found in the Android ecosystem. It is controlled by remote operators who use a delay of 0.3-3 seconds between actions to avoid detection by antivirus software.
